Rochester Favorites

Danielle Nutter on Thursday, 31 January 2013. Posted in Rochester & Monroe County, Student Life

School is not all about studying, going to classes and doing homework. There needs to be a balance or to say the least you will go out of your mind. RIT is conveniently surrounded by wonderful restaurants, bars, museums, and other must see places. Here are some of my favorite places to go in the Rochester area:

Sugar Mountain Bake Shoppe- If you haven't been here yet you are really missing out on the most flavorful sugar high you will ever experience. Their gourmet cupcakes are to die for, and they come in unique flavors like, white russian, crunch city roc and vanilla blueberry. And if you have late night cravings they are open till 10 during the week and 11 on fri and sat.

National Museum of Play- If you are looking for something to do on the weekend with some friends, this is the place to go. This museum is fun for all ages and will instantly bring you back to your childhood. They have a butterfly garden, a large toy collection and a mini wegmans! This is definitely a place that you want to go to at least once during your RIT career.

The Old Toad- If/ When you are of age this is the classy bar to go to. Everything in this place is Brittish, even the bartenders!!! They have an extensive beer menu and authentic british meals. This is one of my favorite places to go for dinner.

Simply Crepes- I don’t think I could have finished this blog without talking about simply Crepes. It is my favorite restaurant. Although it is not located right in Rochester, there is one in Pittsford which is only a 15min drive away. Their menu is wonderful. You can get breakfast crepes all day but I think their dinner crepes are the best. Some of my favorites include the Chicken Cordon Blue Crepe, The Buffalo Chicken Crepe and the Rugby Crepe. If you're not a savory person then just go for the dessert crepes, so good!!!!

I suggest at least trying these places before you graduate, if you don't you are missing out on some Rochester fun!!!
