SCCA Autocross & Summer Pics

John-Paul Takats on Friday, 29 June 2007. Posted in Rochester & Monroe County, Student Life

This is the second summer I have stayed in the lovely Rochester area as opposed to going home or somewhere else. At first I thought the summer would be quite dull since many people I know are leaving for the summer and some leaving for good. In some ways a dull and relaxing summer sounded nice but it wasn't meant to be.

Here is a brief video clip from the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) event that was held on the RIT campus in a parking lot. Basically its racing around cones in a huge lot. I participated in this at RIT for first time. Check me out driving (the red Audi TT). The SCCA holds two events at RIT a year normally and you can enter pretty much anything that has four wheels and rolls.

Besides driving I have been finding time to enjoy some old summer-time hobbies (no not sitting around). A friend of mine took some action / motion shots of myself and another friend skateboarding in a parking lot by my place.

Oh yeah and the week long Jazz Fest just ended. Saw Rusted Root for FREE one whole block from my apartment on Alexander Street in downtown Rochester. I could hear it off my porch. I had actually seen Rusted Root earlier in the year a couple blocks in the other direction from my apartment, but this one was free. I am definitely happy with the area of Rochester I choose to move to.

Well I'm getting ready now to go camping for a night or two this weekend so i had better be on my way. So enjoy your summers and please check out the next exciting post (Rochester area and camping pictures a possibility) .
