Ski or Snowboard Your Way Through Winter Blues

Sabrina Soares-Kern on Saturday, 08 January 2011. Posted in Athletics, Clubs, Student Life

The winter weather here in Rochester can be very tough for some people, but most of us try to make the best out of it! One thing you can always see a wide variety of students getting pumped up about when the snow comes is skiing and snowboarding. Luckily for us here in western New York, Bristol Mountain is only a 45 to 50 minute drive from campus! The mountain has 138 acres of trails and 34 different slopes for you to fly down! (And don’t worry if you’re not overly experienced… or even just want to try it for the first time, there are plenty of slopes for the novice skier/snowboarder as well.)

The resort offers daily, and yearlong lift tickets, ski/snowboard rentals and lessons for all skill level ski/snowboarders all at very reasonable prices. And for those of you who, like me, don’t have your own means of transportation there are many of ways getting to the mountain - including campus trips (like the ski trip Global Union is hosting next week), by taking a ski/snowboard wellness class, joining the RIT Alpine Ski club or even just roping a group of your friends in to hit the slopes!

If you’re planning a trip soon be sure to check out when they’re open and the lift ticket prices before you head out!

It’s also a good idea to always check the conditions just in case staying in and watching a movie is the safer choice of winter recreation  :]

See ya on the slopes!!
