Spontaneous Trip to Rochester
For the fall and winter quarters, I will be away from the Rochester area on co-op. For my double block, I will be working at a company called Anderson Instrument Company which is located in Fultonville, NY. For those of you who don’t know where Fultonville is located, it is approximately half-way between Albany and Utica right off the thruway. Since I am from the east side of Albany (outside of Troy), I have opted to commute from my home to work every day. When it gets to be closer to the winter time, I will try to find a place to live in the Fultonville area, but for now I drive over an hour to and from work each day. Since I am driving west to head to work, I face a tough decision everyday when I get on the 90 after work… drive home or just drive to Rochester. Granted, it is still a little over 2.5 hours to get to Rochester from work, so I make the trip back home every night.
Last Friday, I was chatting with one of my friends and saying how much I missed everyone in Rochester. She was trying to convince me to just drive up after work. Unfortunately, I had nothing with me for a weekend adventure. I tried to convince my mom to bring stuff to work for me so I could leave for Rochester, but it is a far trip for my mom to make from home. When I called her after work, she told me “You’re only young once, just go to Rochester.” And then I drove to Rochester, running completely on adrenaline to see all my friends.
This past weekend was more than I could have imagined. First off, it was the end of recruitment week for the Greeks on campus, so I got to attend my Bid night and meet all of the Zeta Tau Alpha new members, not to mention I got to see all my sisters who I miss so much. Another highlight of my weekend was attending the “Mandatory Ambassador Fun” with the Admission’s Student Ambassadors. While being on co-op, I can honestly say I miss giving campus tours and enlightening families with all the fun facts I know about the RIT campus! The best thing about the weekend was to be able to hang out with all my friends and not have to worry about any homework or studying. Although I am learning a lot while being away on co-op, I do enjoy all the free time I have and not having to stress about any studying!
Once my weekend came to an end, I sadly made the journey back to my home outside of Albany knowing that I will be back to Rochester in 5 days to attend the best event on campus each year... MUDTUG!
