Summer Fun!

RIT offers so many opportunities for entertainment and relaxation during the school year. Brick City Homecoming, Freeze Fest, Spring Fest and of course Imagine RIT are just some of the different events that give students a break from their rigorous coursework.

When graduation hits and most students pack to go home, RIT becomes a quieter and smaller community for a couple months. Most students think that means a boring summer if they were to stay at RIT for classes or a co-op. The great thing is that the city of Rochester picks up and delivers a slew of festivals and events to keep summer alive.

Jazz Fest is a weeklong event that clears off some of the streets of Rochester and turns them into free concert spaces for music-goers to come out and enjoy. You don’t have to be a Jazz fanatic to enjoy a free concert. Rochester also shows their colors for the Rochester LGBT Pride weekend, which includes a festival, parade and a community picnic.  Park Avenue also hosts a weekend-long festival on their street where people can experience some of the art and culture that Rochester has to offer.

These are just some of the awesome activities that people can participate in and enjoy. Remember, even if you don’t have a car to get to these events, there’s always RIT’s shuttle system that will take you to some fun in the summer sun!
