take action!

We are in the midst of climate change week at RIT.  Over 200 countries are also participating in the climate change action awareness week, exactly the type of global support that can help the world establish sustainability.  The complete list of activities can be found here. Whether you believe in climate change or not, there is no doubt we are doing harm to the environment and action should be taken!

picture_17.pngThe events at RIT are centered around 350.org’s goal of return the level of CO2 in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million.  The day of action is still to come, this Saturday, October 24th.  Students and faculty at RIT will show their support by biking from downtown Rochester to the innovation center at RIT to discuss the future of bicycling in Rochester.  The global acts of October 24th  are aimed at influencing world leaders that will meet in Copenhagen in December to revise the current kyoto protocol.  Take pictures of your support for 350 and send them in! They will be used to influence the decision made in Copenhagen. Hopefully President Obama will attend the summit and the US will finally be on board with global climate change as we have neglected to sign past protocols.  Show corporations that you don’t need money to be heard and make a difference.
