The joy of being accepted into the colleges of your dreams is quickly met with the stress of having to choose only one. Trying to decipher what you actually want in a college is not something that comes easy. To make this decision easier for you, here are a couple of reasons why I chose RIT:
What I found in RIT was their dedication to academics, providing students with any resources they may need to master their major. As a Computer Science student, it was great to see the endless lab spaces in the computing college, as well as the latest PCs for student use. Noticeable as well was the easy access to professors, showing me that I would be able to get help out of the classroom if needed. While most of the colleges that I toured had fancy architecture and overwhelming campuses, it was refreshing to see a school that put their money into student success.
Most important to me, however, was the personal atmosphere of RIT. Everyone that I had met on tours and weekend programs was very approachable and made me feel like a person, rather than a number. Even though RIT has a fairly large student body, I felt very welcomed by the community and comfortable interacting with others. With that being said… RIT is more than just a college, it’s a home away from home.
