| Hello! My name is Haley and I’m a third year student majoring in New Media Publishing. I came to RIT mostly for my major. I was the Editor-in-Chief of my high school paper for two years which is what sparked my interest in publishing and media and eventually led me to RIT. Initially, I wanted to go to school far away from my hometown (Canandaigua, NY) but I ended up attending a school within 30 miles of my house… but I hardly ever go home! I lived in the residence halls my first year and made a bunch of friends in my building and in my major. Now, I have an off-campus apartment and I couldn’t be happier. The independence is great and I dedicate a lot of my time to Gamma Epsilon Tau, a Graphic Arts Honors Fraternity. I’m the Treasurer on the Executive Board and it’s a lot of fun! Through my major, I found a co-op on a cruise ship which I will be boarding in March of 2013 for six months. | When my best friend told me RIT offered majors involved with media and publishing, I thought she had it confused with another school. I had no idea a tech school could have such a wide variety of programs.
RIT offered the unique major I was looking for: New Media Publishing which is now called Media Arts and Technology. When I visited campus I felt right at home. I came to an open house and spoke to the program chair of New Media Publishing about what I wanted in a career and knew that I found the right place for me. |
