I had never been to Artist Row before, but I went to the Rochester Public Market this past Sunday to check it
out.
Unfortunately, I'll have to
wait another whole year before I can go again-and by then I probably won't even
be in Rochester
:-(
So what is Artist Row?
First of all, it is
FREE to the public.
Who doesn't want to do something cool on
Sunday for free???
Artist Row attracts over 160 local and regional artists who
have their work on display.
It's a
juried show, which is generously supported by corporate sponsors, such as
Preferred Care, Canandaigua National Bank, as well as support from many local
small businesses.
The event was
organized to encourage emerging artist to participate, and the
entry fee was
only $25 for those who registered.
It
was a really
good opportunity for art students, and I would definitely encourage
any artsy people to try to remember about Artist row when there is registration
next summer.
The whole Public Market will be filled with booths of
art.
Local community organizations can
also have booths.
And, the event also
showcased live performances by musicians, dancers, and singers. I just went
very briefly and walked around, but I wish that I had allotted more time in my
schedule because this was a pretty awesome event, and it helped that the
weather yesterday was beyond beautiful.
