Hi everyone. This morning, I woke up to my phone ringing. My friend Dan called and told me that classes were cancelled for the day. At first, I was confused because RIT has a reputation of never cancelling classes, but I checked the school's website and there was an emergency notice on the page. It said: "RIT is closed today due to icy conditions and a predicted forecast that calls for more bad weather. All classes and campus events are cancelled. Only essential personnel should report to work."
I was so excited because I had a class at 8 AM, and since I'm not a morning person, I didn't really want to wake up. After sleeping for a couple more hours, I decided to head outdoors and see the so-called "icy-conditions". Here are some pictures from my adventure.
The weather isn't too bad yet, but everything outdoors is pretty icy (as you can tell from the pictures) since it rained for a while and then froze. The forecast says that it is suppose to start snowing tonight and end sometime Wednesday morning, and during that time, the wind chill may get as low as one degree Fahrenheit.
My friend Amanda's mother has worked at RIT for a long time and she has only had one or two days off from work because of bad weather conditions. Amanda said the last time she remembers RIT cancelling classes was when she was in second grade (eleven years ago)!
That's all I have for now. I'll keep you guys updated if anything else interesting happens!
