As you may well know, thousands of colleges all open up their campuses to prospective students for open houses
and general tours
. These are a great way to get a feel for a place that you might like to spend the next four years of your life! One thing that these are lacking is getting to run around on your own (sans parents) and pretend to be a college student. Luckly RIT has just the thing for that. College & Careers
is a program run during the summer two different weekends (July 22-23 and August 5-6). It's an overnight program that gives prospective students a taste of campus life through living in the residence halls, eating at Gracie's (the main cafeteria on campus) and hanging out with other prospective students as well as current ones!
I've spent the past two summers up at RIT helping out at the admissions office and working these programs (the student ambassadors seem to have just as much fun at these as everyone that comes to it!) And while I could talk about it for a long time, I'll let the pictures do the talking...Student Ambassadors
Minute to Win It Competition
Game Show Extravaganza (Friday Night Activity)
Zumba (even the Counselors get involved in this one!)
Even though it's only two days, they really pack a lot in there. There are campus tours and panels of current students to answer questions. And on Saturday you get to pick a few "classes" to sit in on which is a great way to test out potential majors that you might like to get into.
Definitely check into signing up
and coming to hang out with us this summer! I'll be headed back up to Rochester in less than a month and I'm already looking forward to working these!
Any questions? Don't hesitate to ask!
