Decisions, Decisions
Almost exactly this time three years ago, I received my acceptance letter from RIT, and I couldn't have been more thrilled! Being from Maryland, most people are confused as to why I even know what RIT is, but little do they know it has been a part of my life practically forever. Both my parents attended RIT and actually met here as well! I was so sure that RIT was the place for me, so much so that I was ready to apply early decision. My parents didn't want me to limit my options, however, so they advised me to just wait and see how things went. So I did as they said, and waited to hear back from all of my schools before making a decision. I only applied to three other schools besides RIT, and by the time I really had to choose, I had narrowed it down to RIT and one other top contender. I couldn't really see myself in the south for school because upstate New York has always been my home away from home, and where I felt I belonged. RIT really stood out to me in comparison to all the other schools mostly because of the major I ended up choosing: Packaging Science. It is a very unique program and was only offered at a few schools in the nation at the time. No other school had a major that matched my preferences as perfectly as Packaging Science did at RIT; I would have been much more limited in my choices at another university. The student life, suburban location, Division 1 hockey team, close distance to family members, and size of RIT were all great aspects which sold me as well.
I am happier than happy with my decision of attending RIT, and wouldn't change anything about it. I might be just a little biased, but RIT is the most amazing place to be; to meet friends you'll have for the rest of your life, to network and eventually make great connections all over the place, to have a great time in school while getting a great education, and so many other opportunities at the tip of each and every students' fingers!
