Dorm Life

As a freshman, you are required to live on campus unless you live close enough so that you can commute to campus. Living about 7 hours and 379 miles away, it was decided that my best option would probably be to live on campus. Packing up all of my stuff and leaving my comfy bed behind at home, I moved in to the resident halls here at RIT.

There are a couple of living options available in the resident halls. Click here for more information on all of the options to chose from. Living on a co-ed floor, the first thing I was worried about as if we had to share the bathrooms with boys. Ewww.  But no, girls and guys each have their own bathrooms thankfully. On my floor, there are two for each.  My mom still calls me silly for worrying about that. The second thing I was worried about was space in the room. Being a typical girl, I have a lot of stuff, specifically clothes. Thankfully, RIT gives you lots of shelves and storage space in the dorms. They may look small, but with all of the storage space, there’s more than enough room.

Here’s a picture of my dorm currently. It’s a tad bit messy but it’s never gotten worse than that in the room (yet). The two people in the picture are my floor mates. My side is on the left, my roommate’s is on the right.

This is my desk. To be honest, this is probably the neatest its been so far. It’s always filled with art projects or class notes. I’ve had little time to play my Xbox so my post-it note reminders have overtaken the TV screen. However, I plan on making some time for video games once the new Call of Duty game comes out!

Dorm life is pretty great. Now if only the rain here would turn into snow, that would be fantastic. =)
