E3 is crazy

Wow, Miyamoto, Iwata, and Reggie are going to see MY game.

...OK, let me start from the beginning.

In case you've been living under a rock, yesterday kicked off this year's e3 (that's the electronic entertainment expo , to you gramps). E3 was, until this year, the biggest annual event in video games anywhere, and although it has been sized down and is no longer open to the public, it's still a great opportunity for industry professionals to mingle and for the press to get a look at what everyone's working on.

I've definitely been enjoying watching the coverage (I watched all the press conferences from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft) and the resulting trailers and game demos, but even though I work in the industry, it hasn't really affected me until today.

I got into work today and found out that late last night the upper management for Activision (Vicarious Vision's parent company) had on short notice arranged a meeting with high ranking Nintendo officials, including Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Star Fox...), Satoru Iwata (President of NoJ, and Reggie Fils-Aime (President and COO of NoA). One of the founders of our comapny, VV, was flying out to Santa Monica at 2PM and needed some "crazy/innovative stuff to show," including the game my team is working on.

We had about 5 hours to make our game presentable. We dropped everything we were doing and made a list of everything we could do in 5 hours, and got almost all of it done. Crazy.

Like I said I've been enjoying E3, and here's trailers for the things I'm most excited about:

LittleBigPlanet's creation features

Metal Gear Solid 4

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

and even though I'm not huge into FPS, these look pretty amazing, especially CoD:

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Killzone 2
