Final Stretch

Patricia Schiotis on Wednesday, 17 February 2010. Posted in Coursework, Student Life

It is now week ten, therefore time to finish up all class work and begin preparing for finals.  I am in the midst of finishing up my last homework assignment of the quarter, and once complete, all my library time usually spent on reviewing new concepts will be spent reviewing a quarter’s worth of material.

Winter quarter seems to be the toughest to review for, because we have a two week break for the holidays in the middle.  The first three weeks of material seemed to have happened forever ago.  In most of my courses, the stuff learned is cumulative, therefore the concepts used in the beginning are applied to the new ideas I learned this week.  But that shouldn’t fool me, for I know there are things that I’ve learned in the past that I haven’t studied in weeks.

Once the quarter is finally over, I will enjoy a week’s vacation.  I opted not to work at my local supermarket when I go home on break, thus I will have a whole week to do nothing.  I am ready to just relax and have no school, work, or other mandatory events to attend.  For me, this will be my first ‘real’ week of break in 6 years.  I have always had work or school at least a few days a week.  I will not only spend my time sleeping and watching movies, but I have already planned on visiting my twin sister up at Plattsburgh State University for a few days.  That will give me something to look forward to over break.

But now it is time for me to gear up, and prepare for my finals, and once they are completed next Thursday afternoon, I can finally relax.
