Things are getting a little hectic now that many students have received their first quarter schedules. Let me shed some light on a few of the questions I've seen:Where can I access my schedule?
to visit the RIT SIS (Student Information System) main page. In the "Students" block (top left), click the link at the bottom labeled "Fall 2012 Enrollment." Login in with your DCE (ABC####) and password. Then, click "Enroll" under the "Academics" bar. Then, click the tab at the top that says "My Class Schedule." The radio button at the top labeled "Weekly Calendar View" will give you an easier way to see your class schedule. Please note that not all students have a completed schedule. If you have not been notified via email/mail, then your schedule is still in the works. Be patient! I don't think I'm taking enough classes/I think I'm taking too many classes.
Your schedules have been made by your pre-assigned academic advisors based on your major's curriculum and what classes are available to first year status students. To be a full-time student, you need to be taking 12 credits or more, though most advisors shoot for 14-16. If you have a concern about your schedule, you will have an opportunity to meet with your advisor and (possibly) make changes during your Orientation.
Try to save your questions until then. Your advisors try to make sure you're not overloaded or bored. What is Discovery and why do I need to take it?
Freshmen are required by the institute to take 2 classes under the department of First Year Enrichment. Discovery is taken in the Fall by all
freshmen - it is a course designed to help new students acclimate to the collegiate setting and provide a support network for students to express their concerns and answer their question. Pathways is the second part of Discovery and is taken in either
Winter or Spring quarter. Pathways has a different focus that you'll learn more about in the Fall. What about my AP/college credits?
Depending on when RIT receives your scores and transcripts, different students will have those credits applied at different times. If you have questions concerning the receipt or application of earned credits, please contact the Registrars office
