A couple weekends ago [Feb 4-6] was RIT's annual Freezefest, a special weekend of several major events happening around RIT's campus. I was able to attend a few of these events and get some good photos as well [see below].
Friday was the first day of the weekend and I went to Rail Jam and Aziz Ansari.
Rail Jam is a skiing and snowboarding tricks contest where students can show off their skills [see action below]. This has become an annual event and is quite popular these days, especially for its location, right off the quarter mile by the tiger statue.

Aziz Ansari, a popular comedian seen on NBC's Parks and Recreation most recently, along with being on stand-up tours regularly came to RIT for a Friday night show. Opening was Dan Levy, a friend of Aziz. His act was quite entertaining, I particularly could laugh at his references that I share with him, being a Jew in America. Just like Craig Ferguson for Brick City weekend, the opener was not a disappointment and was quite enjoyable.
Aziz was quite entertaining as well, particularly at the beginning of his act as he allowed everyone in the crowd to pull out their flash cameras and get their picture in, something I have never seen a performer do before. I was allowed to have my 10 minutes of no flash, but it was interesting to see a performer allow a minute of flash photography.

Saturday I spent my time attending the Greek Bonfire and the RIT hockey game against our rival, Air Force.
The greek bonfire was planned by students representing the IFC and CPC boards, the student fraternity and sorority governing bodies. It was a great time to meet and mingle with other greeks, and there were even free hockey tickets provided to greeks. It was open for non greeks as well, a good opportunity for more inter-campus socializing. Despite the snow, there was a good turnout and I hope to see this turn into an annual event.

After the bonfire, I went to the RIT hockey game. Despite our team gaining a 4-0 lead in the first
period, Air Force managed to come back, resulting in a 5-5 tie after a scoreless overtime. Despite not getting the win, RIT did go 1-0-1 on the weekend, with a 1-0 win the night before, guiding the Tigers to clinch the regular season AHA title the next week.
Overall, Freezefest was a great time and a fun set of events, and I look forward to being back for it next year.
