GCCIS and the Social Network

Alissa Anderson on Saturday, 23 October 2010. Posted in Coursework, RIT Mission, Student Life

My last post was all about the wonders of the College of Imaging Arts and Science and my obsession with Graphic Designers who are out to make our internet world beautiful.  Aside from the great colors and typography going on - its also important to recognize the individuals who CREATED the internet and all our great networks - the computing students of the world, found in the RIT Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences (GCCIS).

I took a break from the co-op scene to check out the new "Social Network" movie - the film that follows the creation and spread of Facebook. Epic movie - revolutionized the way I look at opportunity and the entrepreneurial experience. Props to Mark Zukerberg and his coding skills.

With RIT's push for innovation it is only a matter of time before and RIT student comes out with the next social-obsession-network.

If you are looking to get into a related major, the Golisano College has departments in Computer Science, Information Sciences & Technologies, Interactive Games & Media, Networking, Security and Systems Administration, and Software Engineering.

One cool thing about GCCIS is the Xbox 360's hooked up to the computers so the Game Design majors can test out their games! =)
