I went to type in a title for this post and realized it sounded oddly familiar so I went back and reread through some of my posts and sure enough
. Almost exactly one year ago this week, we experienced the same unusual spring weather!
We're officially back from spring break and a week into spring quarter. I have to say that this is my favorite quarter. This past week the weather got up to 60 degrees-- warm enough to run around outside in shorts and a t-shirt! It was so exciting and kind of funny because all of a sudden everyone wanted to be outside. The running trails were packed, I've never seen so many people on the quarter mile and there were people playing frisbee in the quads. Don't get me wrong, I like the snow and cold too-- weird, I realize-- but there is a time and a place for that and any warm weather that we can get in March, I will gladly accept.
Last night was the first game in the quarterfinals for the RIT hockey team against UConn. In an exciting game, they finally won 4-3 in overtime. By exciting, I mean that I nearly had a heartattack it was so intense.
RIT was up 3-0 at one point and the odds of winning were looking great except then UConn countered with 3 goals in less than 10 minutes. They had a great chance of winning in the last minute of play in the 3rd periiod when a goal went just wide except unfortunately it went into overtime. During the playoffs if it is tied at the end of the 3rd period they will go into a 20 minute sudden death overtime. RIT set a Division 1 record last night with 55 shots on goal.
The team is back at it tonight against UConn again. Hopefully they finish it off strongly tonight or else they will be forced into a tie breaker on Sunday night. Let's hope they don't do any more of these overtimes because I'm not sure if my blood pressure can take it :)
