It's that time again...

It's registration time!!!  Well for third years anyways.  So once again, I am forced to wake up wayyyy to early than I would like, patiently wait to get on SIS, and pray to the high heavens that I get into the classes that I want.  It's a real hectic time and it almost feels like it came too soon.

I remember the first time I had to register for classes my freshmen year.  It was a disaster.  I woke up 10 minutes before 6am, which is when SIS opens, with a list of my classes in hand, and the aroma of dukin donuts and hot chocolate that our RAs put out for us in the air.  I remember feeling really nervous...probably because I didn't really have a back-up schedule (which is a big no-no.)  So when my clock turned from 5:59 to 6:00, I plopped in front of my computer and began the registering process.

I get on the SIS website...and of coarse it's already full of other students trying to register, so I couldn't get on!  I tried for about 15 minutes clicking on the link, hoping it would go to the next page.  But it didn' I try to call the Registrars was busy...for 20 minutes.  It was now 6:40 and I am am I going to get into any of my classes???  7:00 rolls around...still no way of getting on SIS...I try to get on the website one last time...AND IT WORKS!!!

My body turned to jell-o from the relief that I felt.  I type in the coarse number for my class and clicked on the button.  What I saw next caused me to burst into tears and my heart to sink to my stomach.  There was an hold on my account and I could not register for any of my classes.  I pretty much lost it.  In the end, I figured everything out and it was good and dandy.

Now I'm not trying to make registering for classes a scary situation, but it can get a little frustrating.  I can't really complain nowadays because I have gotten really lucking getting into all the classes that I wanted.  For my friends, however, they haven't been so lucky.

Thankfully, RIT registers all incoming freshmens' classes for the first quarter.  But when it comes time to register for classes here are a couple of tips that you might wanna keep in mind:

-Always always always have 1 or 2 back up might not get into all the classes that you want.
-Don't freak out if you don't get into SIS right's better if you stay as calm as possible because panicing can make things worse.
-Sometimes if you wait a couple days, you can check if any of the good classes have open spots.  (There was an open spot right before the quarter started for a Cultural Anthropology class and it turned out to be the best class I have ever taken!) can help you find professors you love and the professors that will make you fall asleep.
-DO NOT try to pull an all nighter...My friends and I tried to stay up all night before registration and we all just ended up falling asleep at like 5....
-Finally, make sure you don't over load yourself with too many credits because that's what I do a lot and I end up getting behind and dropping a lot of classes.

So that's all I gots to say about that...Now if you excuse me, I have to figure out some back-up schedules!
