Missing Application Credentials?!
The first step to becoming an RIT student is completing the Undergraduate Application for Admission.
We know putting together the pieces of your college applications can be a stressful task, so here are some tips to calm your nerves and help reassure you that every piece of your application is complete.
Step 1. Relax!
Putting together all of the pieces of your application will take time. Patience is an important part of this process. The admissions office will take a few days to process each of your application materials. There is a chance that you may receive a notice of missing credentials during this processing. If so, no action will need to be taken by you. However, it is helpful to follow up with admissions in these cases (giving a few days for processing) to make sure that your missing application materials have been received.
Step 2. Keep on pace for your deadlines
This is a marathon, not a sprint. There is no advantage given to a student who completes their application in September versus a student who completes their application on February 1st *. Keep track of deadlines and requirements with this Admission Application Timeline for freshmen and transfer applicants.
*For Regular Decision freshmen applications. Reminder to transfer students rolling admission priority deadline for Fall 2011 is April 1st.

Step 3. Check your mail and web portal
In most cases the Undergraduate Admissions Office does a pretty good job communicating if we are missing any critical elements for your application. You may receive emails, postcards, or web portal updates announcing the pieces that we are still waiting for. Nevertheless, there are times that these notices go unnoticed! Here are a few steps you can take to make sure you are receiving all important RIT communications.
- Set up a myFuture@RIT portal account if you have not already and see the status of your application online at any time!
- In your portal account you can also check that your mailing address and e-mail address are up to date in order to receive important messages from admissions.
- Check your email account junk and spam filters for messages that might be blocked. To ensure this does not happen add This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to your email “safe list”.
Step 4. Contact Admissions
If you are having trouble completing any portion of your application please do not hesitate to call or message us! There are lots of ways to contact an admissions counselor who can check the status of your application. Use the method of communication that is easiest for you!
