My First Time....

Hey everyone this is my first time writing a blog so I’m supper excited!!!

My name is Victor, I was born in Mexico but moved to White Plains, NY at the age of 6, and I have lived there ever since. For those of you not familiar to southern NY White Plains is about 30 min north of NYC.  When I heard about Rochester and the snow I thought “great I love winter and snow” ☺  I do enjoy watching the snow and seeing everything get white but something I really hate about Rochester is the wind. Other than that the weather here is not too bad, at least not in my opinion.

I am a third year mechanical engineering major, though it is very intense at times it is also very interesting. This may change as I am debating about changing majors. I have always had an interest in building and architecture. Now due to the project that I am working on with Engineers for a sustainable world (ESW) I have found something that I really enjoy and hope to do for a living after graduating from RIT.  ESW is working on a project with habitat for humanity to design a more efficient house, right here in Rochester. I have a huge interest in this and want to do this as a career.  Now I am stuck with the debate of staying in the mechanical engineering program or changing to civil engineering tech.

Mechanical engineering has different options (or tracks) to the program; there is automotive, aerospace, and one of the newest is energy and the environment option. Through the energy and environment option there is a course that works with the efficiency of buildings, so this seems like a good match. On the other hand there is civil engineering that deals with the construction of buildings.

I am not worried about transferring programs because I have many classes that apply to both majors and after talking to the head of the civil engineering department I know it won’t be a problem. The only problem is making a decision. Undecided
