Never Too Old
The summer before I started college was a huge step into the reality of adulthood. Student loans, health forms, bank accounts, and if course learning to do my own laundry were just some of the rights of passage I experienced in the summer of 2010. With all the pressures of the real world bearing down on me, I felt like it was finally time to grow up, which was almost sad to think about at 18 years old. Leaving behind my childhood and moving forward into a new time in my life.
Once I got to RIT however, I realized I was in the same boat as almost every other first year student, having all these responsibilities yet still wanting to run around and have some fun now and then. If college has taught me one thing, it’s that you are never too old for the things you love. Only in college will you see 20 year olds running around with Nerf guns or building forts in their apartment living rooms, and of course I am talking from experience.
This summer, don’t let the big decisions and important work bring you down or scare you, take time to enjoy some fun in the sun with your friends and family, and remember to still keep those exciting things about yourself when you get to college, no matter how silly they are.
