This summer, I’ve decided to use my spare time wisely, so I have started to run again. I used to run allthe time in high school, but at school, I usually don’t follow my ideal workout schedule. But one thing I miss while being at home is the easy access to a gym facility like I do while I am at RIT.
The closest gym to me is about 15 minutes away, and I don’t have a membership. The start-up fees and monthly payments do not seem appealing to me, not to mention that long drive to get there. When I am at school, there is a gym (Hall Andrews Student Life Center) located towards the middle of campus, and I don’t have to worry about extra payments.
Some of the features within the life center include 5 multi-purpose courts, 8 racquetball courts, dance/ aerobics rooms, 1/8th mile indoor banked and padded track, and a mini gym. There are also locker rooms available for students and faculty use, and the lockers rooms are equipped with saunas. If you need to rent equipment, you just need your RIT ID to check it out at The Cage. You can also rent towels and locks at The Cage as well.
Also located within the life center is the Wiedman Fitness Center. It is a two floor facility that features a variety of machines and other equipment for use. On the second floor, there are the aerobics machines, as well as other guided weight machines, and the first floor is home to the traditional weight room. The fitness center also provides free nutritional consoling and has student attendants that can provide basic information for the fitness equipment.
I hope my summer workout habits follows me into the fall so I can fully utilized the equipment and facilities offered on campus.
