At the begining of this quarter I started preparing an annual report for my sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha. 40 pages later I turned in the report to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life for review. The report was an account of all of the events, philanthropies, chapter recuitment, management, and scholarship efforts. As President for the majority of the year (my term ended in winter) if was my responsibilty to complete the report.
The current President of my chapter, her VP, and myself made a presentation on this report to a panel of judges in early February. As a result of this presentation my chapter was put in the running for a number of awards including Outstanding Greek Chapter of the Year (the award being the President's Cup).
After a long year of challenges and successes, my chapter was announced a President's Cup finalist last week at the Greek Awards Banquet. That night I was also given the honor of Greek President of the Year.
Friday night's Student Government Banquet threw me into a fit of anxiety from the moment I woke up to the moment President Simone began describing my chapter's achievements. I have never been so proud to be a part of my organization. If you haven't realized it by now... we won! and it was amazing.
So here is my ode to Alpha Sig...
You are a member of a strong sorority, one that ranks with the best in the country. Live it, talk it, dream it, work for it. Aspire. Seek. Attain.
