Your blog is really helpful for me as it describe the thing very simply and easy to understand for a new person in the market.
Right now there are rehearsals for two different plays going on. I know one of them is Noises Off! but I forgot what the other play is. They open within a week of each other in mid-October.
A decision was finally made for the musical. The winner is....LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!!!!!! I'm VERY excited to do this show. Actually...that's a bit of an understatement. I was a little worried about auditions being while I was home but it turns out we have the same director as last year (Jerry Argetsinger) and he's currently working on Noises Off! so auditions have been pushed back.
Other professionals working on Little Shop include Mark Davis, our choreographer from last year, and Dean Davis, our music director who is new to RIT. Dr. Kruger did it last year but I believe he is on sabbatical this year and so Dean Davis has been told he must be musical director for whatever musical we chose to do.
RITSMA is going to be busy in the next few weeks. This Friday we are hosting open mic night in the RITZ along with CAB. At the end of September we are having a concert in commons with U of R students. The first week in October, right before Brick City Weekend, we are hosting an acoustic night in Java's (where I am currently writing this entry). Brick City Weekend, we have our big concert, Kalaidescope, which features many of RIT's musical groups including concert band, singers, and the a cappella groups. After that, RITSMA and Players have a field trip to New York City planned to see Young Frankenstein. Then suddenly...it's November and Eight Beat Measure is putting on Acappellaween.
It's a good thing I don't mind being busy.
