So the reason I ended up looking into RIT is not the usual type of story so buckle your seat belts, sit back and get ready for this great story.
Years and years ago (5 years to be exact) I remember like it was just yesterday, sitting outside my counselors office all nervous and stuff, thinking about how I didn’t do my homework of looking into at least three schools and talking about my ideas of colleges with her. At the same time, I didn’t care too much. I had the worst case of senioritis and having no motivation to do any work since the first day of senior year made the whole year just drag along.
I was listening to the student before me finish up his session of school discussions and I was trying to just get a quick list of schools in my head but couldn’t think of any in particular that I wanted to waist the next 30 minutes with. Nervously looking over to my right, I saw a pile of school brochures. This pile had to be at least three feet tall and there was no type of order, just random schools piled up on one another. Some were the average 8x11 brochures while others will about a quarter sized page. I heard the guy before giving his thanks so I did the only thing I could think of, walked over to the stack reached my hand in the pile, and grabbed a completely random brochure, and walked into my counselor’s office to have my half hour conversation about RIT.
Now, I am a strong believer in fate, but when I came to visit this school, I had no idea that they would completely win me over. Between the opportunities the huge co-op program the school offers, the amazing lab facilities that the young engineers work in, and the diversity of majors, cultures, and personalities, RIT had everything that I could ask for in a college.
5 Years later and finishing up my Bachelors and Masters degrees in engineering, I am still in love with RIT. I will be finishing up at the end of this year and I am already planning my future dates to come visit
