(Video Blog) RIT Student Government Check-In

Alissa Anderson on Thursday, 13 October 2011.

Hey SG Hey -

Currently on location at the @RIT_SG (Student Government) office submitting a new suggestion for the RIT campus. In an effort to be more tech savvy on campus I would love if students could have Smartphone-printing access in the academic buildings. This way students could more efficiently print homework/notes on the fly. It would be so convenient if you could walk into Erdle Commons, connect your Smartphone to the cloud, and print to the nearest printer. I'm sure someone in @RITGCCIS can develop and app for that.

For this idea and others Student Government is the place to go on campus. SG is the voice of the students and the heart of RIT spRIT. SG meets weekly during "activity hour" (Friday 1-3 when no classes are held), to discuss campus events, issues, and ideas. If you cannot make the senate meetings twitter is a great place to get your campus ideas out there and directed at the right people. I sent my app idea to Greg Pollack (SG President) yesterday and he forwarded it along to the Tech committee to investigate the feasibility.

Campus safety is one of the most important fact in our educational institutes. But students, teachers, staffs, visitors can't get immediate response from the police service due to technical error when they sense danger. That is why 911Cellular has brought a revolutionary app for a secure campus and urgent response, rescue and help.
