Your blog is really helpful for me as it describe the thing very simply and easy to understand for a new person in the market.
Acceptance letters to RIT are going out! Everyone accepted to RIT is being reviewed for a merit scholarship. We are mailing merit scholarship award letters this week. And, we’re on schedule to send financial aid awards out March 15th to admitted 1st year students who completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Transfer students will start receiving their financial aid awards April 1st.
If you apply for admission to RIT and complete the FAFSA you will automatically be considered for federal, state and RIT need-based aid.
If you missed the link to the TAP Application, you can complete it on-line at http://www.hesc.com/content.nsf/SFC/3/Apply_for_TAP_Now. If you are a non-NY state resident, you should check with your state agency for any scholarship opportunities. Here are a few state agencies that may provide grants and or scholarships for enrollment at RIT:
If your financial aid award includes a federal loan, you will be advised on how to receive that loan. Since RIT is a
Congratulations to all accepted students! Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding the financial aid process at RIT.

We are currently reviewing and notifying students of eligibility for merit scholarships and expect to have all currently accepted students notified in the next week or so. If you give me your complete name, I can check on your status - Corinne.Franklin@RIT.EDU.

Congratulations on your merit scholarship. Your mother should be proud! The amount of need-based aid that you receive is based on all the information reported on the FAFSA. This includes household size, number of family members in college, assets, taxable and untaxed income.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

After you submitted the FAFSA, you should have received an e-mail confirmation with a Student Aid Report (SAR) attached. Review the SAR to be sure that RIT is listed. If we are listed, we'll receive the information.
You can also send me an e-mail with your complete name to verify that we have what we need to send a Financial Aid Award. Corinne.Franklin@RIT.EDU.

Everybody who applies to RIT receives notification of their status - accepted, not accepted, accepted into another program, wait-listed.
Hope this helps.

I know the wait is tough, but bear with us. We're working to get through most of the merit review by the 15th of this month. Then we'll move to sending out need-based financial aid awards. Our goal is to have most 1st year students notified of their merit and need-based awards prior to our first admitted student open house on March 26th.
I've received a lot of e-mails asking me to confirm receipt of applications. Feel free to provide your full name so that I can confirm that we have everything needed from you Corinne.Franklin@RIT.EDU.

Sorry for the late response to your question about transfer award notifications. We plan to start sending Financial aid Awards to admitted Transfer students on April 1st. Your Admissions Application will be considered as long as space is available in your program of interest. Be sure to check the Admissions website and adhere to all deadlines http://www.rit.edu/emcs/admissions/transfer-admission.

Merit Scholarship Letters are sent separately after Acceptance Letters.

Congratulations on James receiving the Presidential Scholarship! If I am looking at the correct student, he is admitted into the College of Engineering. Our Financial Aid Counselors are assigned to individual colleges. James' Financial Aid Counselor is Peter Fagan (Peter.Fagan@RIT.EDU). You can find our contact information at http://www.rit.edu/emcs/financialaid/contact.html.
If a student's parents are separated or divorced, the parent who completes the FAFSA is the parent who provides more than 50% support for the student. If that parent is remarried, both the parent and the stepparent must provide their financial information on the FAFSA.
I'll make a note on James' record indicating that a revised FAFSA will be coming in. We'll wait for your information to be provided before we calculate a financial aid award. In the meantime, feel free to contact Pete.

Congratulations on your son's acceptance to RIT! Financial aid awards are mailed home. At the same time the awards are mailed home, they are available to view on-line for students who have submitted an admission deposit and who have set up their RIT accounts.
John
Where can we go online to see the awards?
Thanks,
John
Corinne Franklin
Three things need to happen before you can view your financial aid award on-line:
1) You received a paper award letter
2) You submitted your $300 Admissions deposit
3) You activated your RIT account
After all of the above, you can go to www.my.rit.edu. After you log in, click on the "Financial" tab at the top of the page. You will then see "Financial Aid Self Service" on the right.
Hope this helps!

I have submitted my deposit/activated my account. Since I was accepted through Early Decision, I got all of that out of the way back in December. I have not received an award letter yet, though. On the Financial Aid Self Service page, it shows that you've received my FAFSA, but below that link, it says to complete the "RIT Financial Aid Application." I'm not sure what this is. I don't know what to fill in for the Enrollment Plans section of this form.
If I have to fill that out, I will as soon as possible. I was hoping to get the letter before the open house this Friday.

The RIT Financial Aid Application is NOT required for new students. We do require this for our returning students. As long as we have the FAFSA, we'll send the Financial Aid Award.
If the information you reported on the ED Financial Aid Application is similar to what you reported on the FAFSA you can estimate that the award will not change.
We're working to get awards out. You should hear something shortly.

Once you are admitted to RIT, your spot in the class is confirmed until May 1st. If you don't submit your admission deposit by May 1st, you may risk losing your spot. So, you're OK until May 1st.
Your Financial Aid Award was mailed out on March 31st. You should receive it shortly.
Hope this helps!

My son has been admitted as a freshman to the undeclared business program as an international student. is there a link to fin aid award letters posted online, or do they only get mailed? thanks!
We have just paid the acceptance deposit. Though we received the admit letter in Jan 2010 itself we have not yet heard anything on the financial aid. Could you pl help?
Corinne Franklin
Merit scholarships for international students are awarded soon after students are admitted by admissions. If your son was awarded a merit scholarship, he would have received the notification in the mail. You can find information on financial assistance for international students at http://www.rit.edu/emcs/admissions/international#5.
Hope this helps!
