The McKenzie Law Firm Legacy Planning Scholarship

Candidates must submit an original essay based on the following:

Imagine that you are 80 years old and you are only now planning your will. What would you want your legacy to be? Write a letter from your ideal future self to your current self, explaining what you will accomplish over the next 10 years, how you will accomplish it, and what the continuing impact of those accomplishments will be after you are gone.

Submissions will be evaluated based on thoughtfulness, as evidenced by the originality of your goals, the level of consideration given to how you will accomplish them, and how realistic they appear to be. Donít assume that a general desire to save the world or cure cancer is more impressive than a plan to provide for a certain family member if the plan to provide for the family member has clearly been carefully thought through and can realistically be achieved.

There is no minimum or maximum length requirement, but we expect that the winning essay will fall somewhere between 750 and 1,500 words.

Scholarship Award: $1,000
