We are recruiting RIT Alumni with
a positive outlook, who are excited about and willing to make
a difference. We seek those who are as enthusiastic about
RIT as we are! If you are enjoying success in your career,
and would like to participate in the career development of
our current students, we invite you to contact us. We are
seeking alumni who are motivated to make a significant contribution
to RIT by volunteering your time and talents in the Career
Services area.
You may assist Career Services by
providing one-on one student mentorship, career advising,
conducting small group presentations or developing employment
partnerships. Your time commitment is minimal, but the impact
lasts a lifetime.
If volunteering for Career Services
is of interest to you, read on…we have four great options
for you to consider.
• Mentoring Program
(One-to-One Paired Mentoring)
• Career Advisory Network (Informational Interviewing)
• Career Speakers Series
• Assist Career Services Staff
If you are interested in volunteering,
please email Alumni Career Services Coordinator, Michelle
Magee, mamoce@rit.edu
Mentoring
Program
(One-to-One Paired Mentoring)
If you are a serious professional who is looking to give back
by assisting a new professional entering your career field,
you should consider becoming a Career Mentor. Alumni and friends
of the institute have volunteered to work with current RIT
students in a one-to-one mentoring relationship for a minimum
of one year to assist students in job search strategies, professional
development and personal growth.
If you would like to assist a student by providing your professional
insights, general career guidance and enthusiasm for what
you do, please consider volunteering to become a career mentor.
If you are interested in participating, please email Alumni
Career Services Coordinator, Michelle Magee, mamoce@rit.edu.
Visit our Mentoring Program
page for more information.
This program is co-sponsored by RIT’s Alumni Network
Board of Directors and the Offices of Cooperative Education
and Career Services, and Alumni Relations.
Career Advisory Network
(Informational Interviewing)
The RIT Career Advisory Network is comprised of alumni, employers,
parents, and friends, representing diverse career fields nationwide,
who have offered to share their career experiences with students
and alumni. Career Advisors are available to provide informational
interviews to current students and fellow alumni upon request.
Communication with professionals can provide realistic information
about career options, employment conditions, and job responsibilities.
In addition to information about their careers, career advisors
may lend insight or advice regarding the city in which they
live, and they may be able to refer you to other contacts
in the industry. If you would like to become a career advisor,
please email Alumni Career Services Coordinator, Michelle
Magee, mamoce@rit.edu
Access to Career Advisors will be granted to students and
alumni who are seeking employment, through your RIT Job Zone
account. Alumni wishing to gain access to Career Advisors
and other related services should contact RIT's Office of
Co-op & Career Services at 585.475.2301 | 6905 TTY, to
schedule an appointment (phone or on campus) with their program
coordinator.
Career
Speaker Series
If you are interested in speaking to groups or organizations
on campus about your work, career field or profession, please
let us know. We are happy to arrange a time and location for
you to speak (formally or informally) with our current students
in every discipline at RIT. We offer campus programs on specific
career fields, as well as practice interview sessions, job
search techniques programs and workshops geared for experienced
alumni professionals. If you are interested in volunteering,
please email Alumni Career Services Coordinator, Michelle
Magee, mamoce@rit.edu
Assist
Career Services Staff
With your assistance, we can expand RIT’s strong reputation
for career education excellence, and build on our strengths,
as one of the best career-related cooperative education programs
in the United States.
The Career Services staff would like
to work directly with you, if you can assist us in making
appropriate contacts within your organization for the purposes
of developing full-time and co-op partnerships.
Please let us know if you can help
us in identifying the appropriate personnel within your organization.
We would like to work with you to contact
those who would be interested in learning more about our excellent
career-related programs and employment services to employers.
Do important people in your organization
know about RIT's successful programs? Is our staff in contact
with the correct "decision making" individuals in
your company? Can you assist us in developing partnerships
with professionals in your field who can hire our students
and alumni? Could you make introductions for our office?
If you believe you can assist our
office as an Alumni Employment Ambassador, we welcome the
opportunity to discuss your ideas and recommendations. If
you are interested in volunteering, please email Alumni Career
Services Coordinator, Michelle Magee, mamoce@rit.edu
