Teachers from across the country can take advantage of RIT’s summer and winter training institutes for their PLTW courses. RIT was the original training site for PLTW, beginning summer sessions in 1998.
Currently, seven of the courses are offered during two 10-day sessions beginning in early July. They include the middle school course Gateway to Technology, and high school courses Design and Drawing for Production (Introduction to Engineering Design), Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Digital Electronics, Principles of Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Engineering Design and Development.
Course specific five-day enhancement courses may also be offered, depending on participant interest. Since 2004, RIT has hosted training for selected courses and/or new software during New York State’s Regents Exams Week in January.
