Advising and Support
RIT students participate in International Student Orientation, offered before classes begin each term.
International Student Services Office
The International
Student Services office serves as a resource for all
international students on visas as well as for members of the campus community
seeking cross-cultural assistance. The staff advises students on immigration
issues, orientation, helps with adjustment to academic and cultural
expectations in the United States and provides cross-cultural programs. In
addition, the office coordinates off-campus hospitality through the Rochester
International Council.

Academic Advising
All matriculated students work with an academic advisor assigned by their designated program and work with the advisor throughout the program of study. The advisor coordinates program sequence, course registration, academic guidance, etc.
Counseling Center
The center offers a variety of services to RIT graduate
students including personal/psychological counseling, career counseling, a
career resource center, Computer-Assisted career guidance, testing,
consultation and referral services.

Learning Development Center
The Learning Development Center
provides individual and group instruction in efficient reading, study
procedures, mathematics, and writing skills.

RIT English Language Center (ELC)
International students who require
assistance in their mastery of English in order to succeed in the rigors of
their academic program may seek assistance in RIT’s English Language Center. The ELC offers courses in writing, grammar,
vocabulary, conversation and reading at several skill levels each quarter, as
well as courses in presentation skills, computer word processing,
pronunciation, business communication and TOEFL preparation, etc. Students may
receive individualized instruction tailored to meet their specific language needs.

Student Health Center
RIT provides professionally staffed basic health services to all enrolled students,
providing preventative, acute / non-emergency care, education and support.
