Rochester Institute of Technology is pleased to extend continuing education to graduates of the Verizon Next Step Telecommunications Technology associate's degree program. Transfer credit is wholly applied* toward our Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts and Science with 15 online concentrations to customize your plan of study.
*Students must have grades of C- or above in each course to earn full transfer credit
RIT operates on a quarter system, allowing students to take courses up to four times per year to expedite degree completion. Our academic quarters run 11 weeks in length. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with program start dates in September, December, March, and June each year.

Online Learning

RIT has been delivering distance education for over 25 years and is one of the largest and most established online learning programs in the U.S. Each year, over 4,000 individuals take courses online from RIT.

BS in Applied Arts and Science
Students transferring in to RIT from the Verizon Next Step program find a natural fit in our Applied Arts and Science program. The 180-credit program grants up to 88 credits to Next Step graduates, assuming satisfactory grades.Students select from 15 online concentrations, including:

BS in Telecommunications Engineering Technology
For students with a strong electrical engineering background or a related associate's degree, RIT offers an upper-division online telecommunications degree. Please contact Admissions to discuss your educational background. The BS program in telecommunications engineering technology was the first Bachelor of Science program in the United States accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC-ABET) in its field.
