How do I register for a course?
You can take courses at RIT without being enrolled in a degree or certificate program. This option is appropriate if you want to try a course or two in anticipation of applying for a degree, or if you are taking just a few courses for professional or personal development. Or you may apply to a part-time, online degree or certificate program. For more information on how to register or to apply click here.

Is there a deadline for registering for a course?
Yes. Online Learning recommends that you register for your online course before classes start. However, as part of the Drop/Add policy, you have up until the sixth day of classes to add any additional courses or drop any courses. If you register during this first week of classes, you should contact Online Learning at 1-800-CALL-RIT or 1-585-475-5089/5896 (TTY) so we can help you get started.

Will I receive information after I register to tell me how and when to access my online course?
Yes, you will receive an email from Online Learning (online@rit.edu) approximately three weeks before the first day of classes for the quarter. This email directs you to access the "Quarterly Startup" which contains course specific information to prepare you for your online course(s).

If I change my mind after I register, what can I do?
You can officially 'drop' your course up until the sixth day of classes with a full tuition refund. After that time, the academic quarter enters the course withdrawal period during which you may be eligible for a partial refund. Before registering, it is recommended that you become familiar with RIT's Add/Drop/Withdraw policies. If you register for a course and do not drop it officially you will be responsible for paying the tuition.
