Human Resource Development

Program Overview

The advanced certificate is designed for students who hold a bachelor's or master's degree, and who want to enhance their knowledge while gaining an HRD credential. The advanced certificate can be completed through distance learning or in the classroom, and the courses can be transferred into the HRD master's degree if you decide to continue your education.

Typical career outcomes may include: Human Resource Specialist, Technical Recruiter, Trainer, and Consultant. Job functions may include: personnel administration, training, consulting, counseling, and human resource planning. A total of 16 quarter credits is required for certification.

Curriculum Review

In addition to the traditional program, an advanced graduate certificate is available which can be completed through distance learning (DL) or in the classroom. This four-course sequence can provide an HR credential in as little as two quarters. All certificate courses can also be transferred into the MS Program.

  • 0626-710 Theories of Organizational Development
  • 0626-720 Theories of Career Development
  • 0626-780 Human Resource Management I
  • One (1) Elective - 0626-733 Needs Assessment, 0626-891 Global Aspects of HR, or an approved elective

    Admission Requirements

    Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

    Provide an official undergraduate transcript (and graduate transcript if applicable)

    Have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above or evidence of relevant professional experience.

    Provide two letters of recommendation.

    Complete the writing sample.

    Participate in an interview with program chair.

    International Candidates: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 570 (paper) and 230 (computer).
