Computer Graphics

Program Overview

Everyone knows that the computer is an essential tool in the creative process. That’s particularly evident now that the growth of the Internet has essentially thrust computer graphics into nearly every household and business. Courses within our computer graphics program are designed to develop and enhance the skills of people who find that increased emphasis on multitasking has broadened their responsibilities to include aspects of graphic design.

Others who will benefit include technical communicators, administrators, public relations practitioners, educators, sales and marketing staff, and technical and business professionals who are called upon to design and produce effective brochures, advertising materials, presentations, proposals, flyers, and other communications. The program also charts an excellent transition path for practicing designers looking to upgrade skills and move into the arena of computer design.

The program can help you develop skills in the use of a number of popular graphic design, illustration, presentation, photo manipulation, and Internet software programs. Students learn to combine typography, images, and graphic elements into striking designs for both printed and online use and develop a portfolio of professional-quality computer design work.

You may earn up to four credits for courses taken at another college. Special courses are offered each year in topics such as Advanced Internet Design, Designing with Quark, Designing with Corel Draw, and Introduction to XML. These courses may be used as electives in the certificate program with adviser approval. This program is currently available on campus only.
