Part-time Study
Environmental Management Science
Program Overview
All the courses offered under the environmental management science certificate and the industrial environmental management certificate can be applied to professional concentrations in the BS degree in applied arts and science offered through the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies. Part-time tuition rates are charged for students who are matriculated in the certificates or the applied arts and science program. Courses from these two certificate programs may also be applied toward the bachelor of science in environmental management and technology by students who matriculate into that program, either full- or part-time. For more information, contact the civil engineering technology, environmental management and safety department at 585-475-7318, or an adviser in the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies at 585-475-2234. Students must achieve a program GPA of at least 2.5 in order to be certified.
Since so many of our environmental concerns and problems involve subsurface contamination and contaminant migration via surface and ground water systems, understanding the principles of environmental geology and hydrology are key to sound environmental management. The environmental science certificate program provides this valuable knowledge plus practitioner-oriented instruction on how to design and implement a successful environmental monitoring and measurement program. This program is available on-campus.
