Information Assurance
Program Overview
The advanced certificate in information assurance provides students with the knowledge and expertise needed to seek careers in information assurance. Students completing this program will be able to:
Identify and deploy tools and techniques used to secure individual computers and networks from attack.
Utilize tools and techniques for the analysis of a compromise.
Understand and utilize policies, procedures, and standards used to enhance the security of networks and computing systems at all levels including large enterprises.
This program consists of a four-course sequence for those with prerequisite knowledge, and is available in either an online or on-campus format. The online availability of this program will provide a career-enhancing educational opportunity to those who are currently employed in a computing field. If desired, the four courses in the certificate transfer into the master of science program in information technology, the master of science in computing security and information assurance, or the master of science in networking, security, and systems administration.

Prerequisites
Before matriculating into the program, applicants must satisfy the follow requirements: *A knowledge of basic networking, including: Ethernet, TCP/IP, routing and switching, cable construction, and basic LAN design and construction principles. *Knowledge of basic networking infrastructure services, including DHCP, DNS, and other discovery and name resolution protocols. *Knowledge of basic system services and system administration functions, including scripting for Unix, user administration, networked file systems, web services, networked information systems (such as NIS), and networked security and permission status. *Knowledge of programming in C++.
