Interactive Multimedia Development

Program Overview

As interactive technologies continue to advance and use of the Web increases the importance of enhancing human communication within electronic environments increases. This advanced certificate provides an opportunity for individuals to gain first-hand knowledge and hands-on experience in the art and science of web site and multimedia development. Through collaborative, hands-on projects, students explore the theories of interactive computing, fundamentals of website architecture and development, interactive multimedia design and development, website scripting, programming in a multimedia authoring language, and the impact of networked technologies.

Curriculum Review

The curriculum consists of six courses:

  • Fundamentals of Web-Based Multimedia
  • Interactive Media Implementation
  • Web Site Design & Technology
  • Foundations of Human Computer Interaction
  • Two electives in website development, multimedia application development, usability engineering, or in a related area

    Admission Requirements

  • Fulfill general criteria for graduate admission
  • Two professional recommendations
  • Applicants from foreign universities must submit TOEFL (minimum 570 paper based or 230 computer based) and Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores.

    This certificate program is intended for part-time study; therefore, RIT cannot issue I-20 paperwork for study in the US.

    Prerequisites
    With the continuing technological advances in the field of interactive multimedia, knowledge of programming is necessary to successfully complete this certificate. Students must minimally have programming skills equivalent to one undergraduate object-oriented programming course. Bridge courses are available to complete this requirement.
