This is an entry level food service position. The quality of our food is top priority. Students are responsible for both preparing from scratch food and cooking items to order under the supervision of our chefs and managers. Prompt, courteous, efficient customer service is also required. Preparing food, cooking, cleaning, and customer service are essential to this position.
Shift times range from 9am-12:30am with most shifts lasting 3-5 hours. Shift times are determined by our service and production needs. SUNDAY NIGHT CLOSING SHIFTS REQUIRED, other shift times vary.
Chopping, weighing, and proportioning of fresh fruits and vegetables. Sautéing pasta items to order. Grilling, frying, and memorizing orders. Stretching pizza dough, topping pizzas, and cooking them in our open flame stone oven. Carving meats and serving customers. Making subs and salads to order. Operating a cash register. Maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. Cleaning, stocking, and washing dishes. Strictly adhering to all uniform and other policies. Any other tasks required by supervisor.
Though it is not required we also have slots for delivery drivers who deliver food on campus ordered from our website, rit.webfood.com, or from our Express Dining catering menu. Delivery requires that you provide your own vehicle. If you are able to work delivery you will be additionally compensated per delivery for your fuel usage.
Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. Ability to communicate effectively.
Prior restaurant or food service experience is preferred. Knowledge of American Sign Language or willingness to learn. Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and terminology.
