On-Campus Employment FAQ
This FAQ attempts to answer the most common questions we receive from on-campus employers. In addition to this FAQ, the SEO also publishes an On-Campus Employment Handbook, which covers all aspects of student employment.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the SEO.
A job description is required for new student jobs. Once an SEO Job Description Form has been filled out, submit it to the SEO for evaluation.
Once the SEO Job Description Form has been submitted to the SEO, a job number will be assigned. A copy of the SEO Job Description Form with the job number will be sent back to the supervisor for their files. The job number should be referred to when contacting the SEO about the position.
2. How do I open and close a position on-file with the SEO?
In order to open a position, call the SEO at x5-2631 with the job number, number of hours per week, the times and days of the week needed when the job is to start. You may also open a job using the On-Campus Job Posting Form.
When a position is filled, or if the supervisor does not want the position to be viewed by students, the job may be "closed." To close a position, please use the On-Campus Job Removal Form. You may also call the SEO with the job number and request that the job be closed. It is very important that the SEO be contacted as soon as a position is filled. Otherwise, students will continue to inquire about the job posting.
3. How do I change a current position?
Changes to an existing job description can be made by revising the job description and submitting it to the SEO.
A job classification level change is only allowed if the job requirements of the position have been changed to meet the requirements of that specific level.
