Rochester Institute of Technology promotes the health and well-being of faculty & staff through the Better Me wellness initiative. RIT strives to be an employer of choice by actively supporting the health and wellness of its faculty and staff. Since its inception in 2007, Better Me has evolved into a comprehensive array of programs and services that inspires individuals to obtain optimal health. Whether you need guidance on how to address a health issue or improve a lifestyle behavior, the Better Me wellness team is here to help you achieve your goal.
The RIT approach is based on the P4 model to wellness:
Our credentialed staff focuses on your specific health and wellness goals through a confidential, one-to-one coaching model.
For faculty and staff to be successful, the personalized wellness goals must be realistic and achievable. The Better Me health fitness specialist helps develop an action plan based on easy lifestyle habits that lead to long-term improvement in health and well-being.
Nutritious food, healthy movement, adequate sleep and stress management are not only fundamental to achieving a healthy weight, but are critical to prevent the chronic conditions that plague so many people today. Cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type II diabetes and some cancers are avoidable through healthy food choices, exercise, and other activities that promote work/life balance.
Optimal health and well-being is the result of taking personal responsibility for making lasting, lifestyle improvements with the support and guidance of the Better Me team. Being mindful of the food you eat, the way you move and how you nurture yourself are ultimately up to you!
