Pre-Incident Planning

Pre-Incident planning is the most critical part of the comprehensive business continuity program.  The following plans are included:

Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan: Identifies and assigns levels of priority to hazards that campus faces based on probability and impact so that prevention and mitigation actions may be taken.

Emergency Operations Plan: Identifies general capabilities needed to respond to most emergencies, including evacuation, temporary shelter, alternate food service operations, and others.  Also includes hazard or impact specific information for loss of power, pandemic, and others.

Continuity of Operations Plan: Capabilities for continuing critical operations should there be an interruption to needed resources: people, technology, infrastructure.  Also includes information for alternate operating locations.  Included in this area are:

  • Business Unit Recovery Plans: A plan for how an organization will resume partially or completely interrupted critical processes within a predetermined time after a disaster or disruption.
  • Disaster Recovery Plan: A plan for how an organization will recover data, hardware and software partially or completely interrupted critical processes within a predetermined time after a disaster or disruption.
