About the Title IX Office

RIT is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment that is free from harassment and discrimination against any person on the basis of their sex or gender. Title IX Office is a neutral office that:

  • Oversees and responds to all reports of sex discrimination involving the RIT community, including reports of sexual or gender-based harassment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking
  • Enforces the university’s non-discrimination policies concerning sex discrimination
  • Educates the community about the university’s policies and practices
  • Investigates employee reports of sex discrimination
  • Connects people to resources that can support them if they experience sex discrimination or retaliation
  • Listens to community concerns regarding sex discrimination
  • Identifies any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of reports of sex discrimination
  • Ensures the university’s adherence to federal and state laws regarding sex discrimination in an ever changing landscape.

Title IX Policies

RIT takes sex and gender-based harassment and discrimination very seriously. The Title IX Office promptly responds to and investigates complaints of sexual discrimination, including sexl and gender-based harassment, sexual assault, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking, ensuring that appropriate action takes place to stop the behavior, prevent its recurrence, and remedy its effects.  All RIT policies related to sex and gender-based harassment and discrimination, including Title IX can be found here.

Title IX Reporting

All members of the RIT community are encouraged to report sex and gender-based harassment or discrimination that you experience or witness. In addition, to reporting to the Title IX office, members of the RIT community have the right to make a report to RIT Public Safety, local law enforcement, and/or state police.  You also have the right to be protected from retaliation for reporting an incident, and the right to receive assistance and resources. Title IX Investigations

OCE's Title IX Office investigates complaints of sex and gender-based discrimination and harassment, including reports of sexual assault or violence, domestic and dating violence, stalking, and retaliation made against or involving employees under C06.0 - Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation and C27.0 – Policy on Title IX Sexual Harassment for Faculty, Staff, and Students. Title IX Resources and Information

OCE provides the RIT Community with general Title IX resources and guidance, in addition to focused information for students and employees.

Title IX Education and Training

All RIT employees must complete Discrimination and Harassment (including Title IX) training upon hire, followed by an annual course, Harassment and Discrimination (including Title IX), through Talent Roadmap. To access these courses and others, please visit OCE Training and Education.

OCE offers additional Title IX-focused training for RIT community members, including the Sex and Gender-Based Education, Awareness, and Prevention Program, and Title IX Practitioners training.
