IV. Application Setup Program (Java Browser Plugin)

 

  1. The Oracle Production URL is: http://myinfo.rit.edu.
  2. System Requirements:
    • JRE 1.6.0_13, (except Kronos users), or later or JRE 1.5.0_10-erdist, (Java), or later is required on a PC to run Oracle Applications (Purchasing, General Ledger, and Accounts Payable) directly within Internet Explorer under Windows XP SP 2 or Windows 2000.
    • Kronos users should install JRE 1.5.0_14 on their computers.
    • Vista and IE7 are not supported.
    • To find out which operating system you are running, click on the Start menu, select "Run", type "winver" in the text box and then click "OK". This should open a dialog box that specifies the operating system that you are running.
    • For PCs, Oracle will support Internet Explorer vsn, 6.0 and 6.0 SP1.
    • No other browsers are supported (e.g. Safari, Netscape, Mozilla, Conqueror are not supported). Individuals using unsupported browsers may be able to log on, however their browsers may not interact properly.
    • Below are instructions for installing Java on your desktop and accessing the Oracle Applications.
    • If you would prefer to have the Accounting Customer Service Specialist install Java and setup your access to the Oracle Applications, please contact Gary Maccarone at ext. 475-2237 to set up an appointment.
    • Mac OS X 10.4.7 or higher should be running Safari 2.0.4 or later with JRE 1.5.0_06 or higher. Safari is the only browser supported for the Mac OS.
  3. To install JRE 1.6.0_13, , (except Kronos users), or later or JRE 1.5.0_10-erdist, (Java), or later open your browser and enter the following URL address:http://myinfo.rit.edu.
    • This address will take you to the RIT Production Oracle Applications Login Page.
    • Click on the responsibility you want to access.
    • A function list will appear to the right of your list of responsibilities. Click on the function you want to access.
    • An Information bar may appear beneath the url address field that states "This site might require the following ActiveX Control: 'J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Uptate 10' form 'Sun Microsystems, Inc.'.. Click here to install.."
    • Click "Install ActiveX Control" on drop down menu.
    • Click on the function you want to access again.
    • An Internet Explorer – Security Warning window will open asking you "Do you want to install this software? Name: J2S3 Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10'?"
    • Click the "Install" button.
    • The License Agreement window will open. Click on the "Accept" button.
    • A software installation progress window will open.
    • When this window says "Complete" click on the "Finish" button.
    • A Warning Security Window will open asking you if you want to run the Application. Check the "Always trust content from this publisher" box and click the "Run" button.
    • The Java Applet form will open.
    • The Oracle Application's window will open.
    • Once Java is installed it is helpful to bookmark the URL Internet Explorer, or create a shortcut to your desktop. From that point on whenever you want to open the Oracle Applications, open your browser and select the favorite site. Your browser will automatically go to the URL address and the RIT Production Oracle Applications Login Page will display.
