Become a Better You: Prevent Diabetes
The goal of this program is for you to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes through healthy eating, weight loss of 5-7% of body weight and exercise of 150 minutes per week (30 minutes/5 days per week) will be encouraged.
This program will help you to learn:
1. The facts about healthy eating and exercise and how to apply them to your life
2. What your challenges are to being healthy and active and how to overcome them
3. How to maintain the long term support you need to stick with the changes
This program is based on the Diabetes Prevention Program research study which was funded by the National Institute of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This study showed that participants who focused on losing weight and increasing their activity cut their type 2 diabetes risk by 58%.
