Crucial Conversations: A Sampler

This session is a short sampler of the Crucial Conversations training program, which teaches participants strategies for handling conversations when there are opposing opinions, strong emotions, and high stakes. Through discussion and activities, participants learn and practice three of the skills taught in the book Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking when Stakes are High. The sampler session will cover how to:

  • Get Unstuck: Deciding what the challenge is. What is at the root of the problem. This is the conversation that needs to be addressed.
  • Start with the Heart: Understanding what your true motive is; knowing what you really want as an end result.
  • Master My Stories: What are you telling yourself about the situation? We will talk in more detail about this concept—it is one of the most useful skills.

Please note that this is not the full Crucial Conversations training, but participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the program.
