Better Me Workshops

Our Better Me Employee Wellness department works with many on campus and community resources to provide educational workshops. These courses offer information and guidance in many different areas of personal and family wellness.

Sessions:

Almost Home

This presentation allows participants to discuss caregiver concerns as well as obtain information about community services, both local and long distance that can help.  Discussion will focus on coping with the daily impact of care giving.

Freshstart Smoking Cessation

The American Cancer Society’s Freshstart program is designed to help participants stop smoking through proven strategies of the quit process. This four-week session includes information on nicotine addiction and its health implications, the immediate rewards to quitting smoking, activities to help employees determine if they are ready to quit, preparing for the quit attempt by learning from your past quit attempts, medication, social support and creating a quit plan. Participants learn techniques to manage nicotine withdrawal, working through tough situations to prevent relapse.

Healthy Dining Workshop

Join Registered Dietitians Sue Grace, Colleen Surek, and Mary Anne McQuay to learn important tactics on how to eat healthy when dining out.  Strategies for navigating your way through restaurant menus to find healthy choices will be a focus of the session, as well as how you can apply what you learn to the RIT campus.

Stress Management Seminar

Everyone has stress in their lives so it is important to have the right tools to manage it. Stress from any source can place a strain on the body and contribute to disease. However it is not the feelings of stress that create the problem itself. Stress becomes a problem when you reach a point where you feel you are unable to cope. Awareness of your stress is the first step in finding a solution. The second step involves learning how to deal with it before you reach a point where you feel that you are unable to cope.
