Intellectual Property and Technology Commercialization
In this session participants learn general information about types of intellectual property (IP) and how these assets can be commercialized for or by their owner. IP types discussed include patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Conversation will also delve into the different types of patents (utility, plant and design). Ample time for Q&A will be alotted.
Registration is open to all RIT students, staff, faculty and research faculty (PI’s) with no specific pre-requisite needed. Interested participants likely would include those not only with keen curiosity but those who a) have innovative ideas, b) want to start a company, and c) those who think that IP is only about utility patents and have not thought about patenting their design.
Session is facilitated by Bill Bond, director, Intellectual Property Management Office
